General requirements are as follows:

  • At minimum, volunteers must have obtained a high school diploma.
  • Volunteers must pass a background check, obtained by their own means.
  • Volunteers must be able to have a regular commitment to CVI. We need at least 24 hours’ notice if you will be unable to come in. We understand that things come up, but if there is a regular behavior pattern, CVI may suspend your position to allow others the opportunity.

Please email aparkes@cviga.org for any questions regarding these volunteer opportunities and thank you for your interest in supporting CVI’s mission through volunteerism.

1. Greeter in the Florence Maxwell Low Vision Clinic

Greeters provide a warm, welcoming voice to clinic clients and help guide them throughout the building. CVI will provide training in acting as a human guide and HIPAA regulations. Additionally, Greeters may assist clients with paperwork upon their arrival, make appointment confirmation calls, and help with other administrative tasks as needed. Volunteers are needed in the clinic three to four days per week and hours are generally 8:00am-3:30pm.

2. Client Survey Volunteer
This volunteer helps CVI understand how clients feel about their experience with our services. The client survey volunteer will call a pre-assigned list of recent clients to conduct a phone survey about the services they received in the clinic and adult rehabilitation. Volunteers will receive training to understand how the survey questions relate to our services and how to navigate the portal to submit survey responses. This position is best for someone with excellent customer service skills and who can be warm and patient with our clients. This is an onsite opportunity.

3. VisAbility Store

The VisAbility Store has an array of products to suit clients’ needs and is open the same hours as the clinic. Volunteers will assist the store manager with merchandising, ordering, and inventory along with greeting customers. Volunteers are most needed in the morning to mid-afternoon. Volunteers may combine this activity with serving as a Greeter.
