At the Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI), we provide services to students throughout metro Atlanta, whether that be through our Midtown pediatric services or our school low vision clinics. With every pediatric client, we find new and unique ways to ensure these children and teens can tackle school and life with excellence, through IEP plan assistance for school-age kids, play-based occupational therapy for young children, and technology training for teenagers.
As the school year winds down and summer begins, we want to take a moment to highlight some of CVI’s youth clients who are graduating from high school and moving on to their next chapter in life.
Christopher came to CVI at two months old and received services throughout his childhood. At CVI, he and his family found a strong support community and services that helped him develop independent living skills. An active member of Beta Club, DECA, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, he is a gifted student who will begin his studies at Georgetown University, which awarded him a full scholarship, this fall.
Outside of school, Christopher plays goalball with the Georgia Blind Sports Association. Last year, he was named MVP at the U.S. National High School Goalball Championships and is hoping to make the 2028 Paralympic team. After completing his high school credits early in December, Christopher spent his spring semester at the Colorado Center for the Blind, where he is the youngest participant in their independent living training program, and serves as the President of the Student Board. In the future, he plans to continue goalball training, pursue new interests, and advocate for his community.
Born with albinism, Nihanth has been visually impaired his entire life. He’s learned to overcome barriers by advocating for himself and the accommodations he needs. Assistive technologies such as magnifiers have empowered him to excel in school. A track athlete, Nihanth earned senior recognition for his sprinting, for running the 100m in 13 seconds and 200 meter in 26.5 seconds. After graduation, Nihanth will attend the University of North Georgia to pursue business and marketing, and he is looking forward to getting involved with student organizations on campus.

Aidan completed the Air Force ROTC pathway program through his high school and has a five-year membership with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he is training to become an HR specialist. Outside of the classroom, he enjoys working on cars, weight training, and sketching. Looking ahead, he hopes to pursue an apprenticeship with Delta Airlines as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. His dream is to own a car restoration business, and to one day buy his dream car—a 1966 Pontiac Le Mans.
These students are just a few of the brilliant young individuals who have received services at CVI during their childhood and teens, and we are thrilled to see how they’ve used what they learned with us. We take great pride in their accomplishments and wish them all the best as they pursue their futures and create their legacies.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026!
