Position Title: Occupational Therapist – Low Vision Rehabilitation

Department: Rehabilitation Programs

Location: Atlanta, GA (In-person at CVI Midtown and satellite clinic locations)

Status: Salary, $48.00 – $55.00 per hour based on experience

The Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) in Atlanta, GA is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary vision rehabilitation team. This position provides low-vision evaluations and rehabilitative services to individuals with vision loss, supporting independence, safety, and quality of life.

Low-vision experience is not required — we provide specialized training and mentorship. If you are passionate about patient-centered care and interested in developing expertise in low-vision rehabilitation, we welcome your application.

Advanced certification in low vision (e.g., SCLV, CLVT, ACVREP) is a strong bonus but not required. We support professional development toward advanced credentials.

Key Responsibilities

· Conduct low-vision evaluations and collaborate on treatment plans

· Provide services at CVI Midtown and satellite clinics; occasional home/community visits

· Train clients in compensatory strategies, ADLs, and use of optical/non-optical devices

· Educate clients and families on resources and adaptive techniques

· Collaborate with Low Vision Optometrists, OTs, COTAs, VRTs, and O&M Specialists

· Maintain timely and accurate EMR documentation, scheduling, and billing

· Uphold HIPAA standards and comply with federal and state regulations

· Participate in case review meetings, internal trainings, and continuing education

· Assist clients with obtaining recommended equipment through CVI’s Visibility Store

· Support and help supervise OT fieldwork students and COTAs (as applicable)

Qualifications

· ACOTE-accredited OT degree

· Current Georgia OT license & NBCOT certification

· Minimum 1 year of clinical OT experience

o (New grads with strong interest in low vision rehabilitation may be considered)

· Current CPR certification & malpractice insurance (or willingness to obtain)

· Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and documentation skills

· Compassion for individuals experiencing vision loss

· HIPAA compliance and adherence to clinical practice standards required

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

· Advanced certification in low vision: SCLV, CLVT, or ACVREP

· Experience in low-vision, geriatrics, or rehabilitation settings a plus

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to sit/stand for extended periods

· Ability to lift up to 20lbs

The Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) and its Low Vision Clinic and Vision Rehabilitation programs for adults. This is an exciting opportunity to serve individuals with vision loss so they may achieve independence, pursue their goals, and enhance their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist occupational therapy clients by providing rehabilitative services to people with low vision impairments.

· Provide services under the direction of licensed occupational therapists.

· Verify client information by interviewing clients, collecting, assessing, and recording required patient information such as medical history and confirming purpose of treatment.

· Assist clients in improving their quality of life by helping them compensate for limitations such as teaching individuals with low vision, visual impairment, or blindness to complete activities of daily living and other activities to improve their level of independence.

· Implement treatment plans and help patients perform therapeutic activities developed in collaboration with occupational therapists by teaching and strategies.

· Instruct patients and their families in the skills and techniques of a treatment program.

· Monitor patients’ performance to make sure they are performed correctly provides encouragement, bringing treatment that is not having the intended effect to the attention of the therapist.

· Document patients’ progress, attitudes and behaviors.

· Maintain occupational therapy accurate patient records by recording patient’s progress for use by the occupational therapist.

· Generate revenue by recording billing information of services rendered.

· Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures.

· Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of items. Keep equipment operating by following operating procedures, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

· Serve and protect occupational therapy practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements.

· Enhance occupational therapy practice and CVI’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

· Attend meetings to review treatments and patient progress.

· Participate in continuing education classes and staff training.

Qualifications

· Graduated from an ACOTE accredited occupational therapy assistant program.

· Current License or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Georgia and national certification.

· Current CPR certification.

· Current malpractice insurance.

· Good working knowledge of occupational therapy practices, procedures, and legal regulations.

· Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and documentation skills

We are seeking an experienced leader to serve as Program Director for Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) and its Low Vision Clinic and Vision Rehabilitation programs for adults and children. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and expand programs that empower individuals with vision loss to achieve independence, pursue their goals, and enhance their quality of life.

The Program Director will guide a dedicated team of professionals, foster community partnerships, and ensure innovative, client-centered services that make a lasting impact.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in program design and evaluation, as well as demonstrated experience in managing staff. They will also have a passion for serving people with vision loss combined with strategic vision and commitment to operational excellence.

Role & Responsibilities

Program Management

• Lead CVI programs for people with visual impairment, including the Low Vision Clinic, Adult Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, VisAbility Store, Support Groups, and Client Services.

• Serve as direct supervisor to the managers of the programs, which provide direct services to people and/or conduct intakes and scheduling.

• Recruit to ensure appropriate staffing and training for optometrists, occupational therapists, and vision rehabilitation providers in low vision care.

• Maintain professional licensing and recommend continuing education opportunities for staff.

• Serve as CVI’s HIPPA Officer and ensure that HIPPA-compliant processes are in place and followed.

Strategy and Program Design

• Lead program design and CVI strategy implementation for rehabilitation programs.

• Participate in long-term planning, strategic plan monitoring, and annual budgeting.

• Collaborate with operations director to prioritize, design and evaluate pilot programs.

• Manage CVI relationships with external agencies for referrals and partnerships

Leadership and Management

• Serve as a member of CVI’s management team, with development, operations and marketing directors, and provide program reports to the board, as appropriate, at quarterly board meetings.

• Collaborate with and offer input to president, finance, and development teams on the programs’ strategic goals, budget, and fundraising case for support.

• Lead and organize rehabilitation programs to achieve organizational KPIs, program quality, and financial goals.

• Collaborate with accounting team to ensure compliance with contracts and that deadlines for accurate and complete billing are met.

• Collaborate with development team on grant proposals, funds tracking and reporting, and other fundraising initiatives and with marketing director to support outreach for the clinic.

Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent experience in nonprofit management or public health.

Proven experience leading and managing teams in healthcare or clinical environment.

Ability to design, expand, and evaluate vision rehabilitation programs that meet client and community needs.

Track record leading strategy implementation for quality and growth.

Skill in managing budgets and collaborating cross-functionally on billing and expenses.

Ability to collaborate with diverse partners in healthcare and academic environments as well as with community agencies and schools.

Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills to promote services and raise awareness of CVI’s services.
