Hosting Your Own Fundraiser
The Center for the Visually Impaired encourages community events (i.e. golf outings, marathons, sales benefiting the Center, etc.).
Before an individual, company or organization may proceed with a special event or promotion to benefit CVI, they must review our third party fundraiser rules and regulations and complete a third party event form.
These rules apply to any event that wishes to use our name, Center for the Visually Impaired, or our logo in promoting the event.
Not sure where to begin? Here is a list of fundraising ideas for your professional, social or service group.
What’s for Dinner?
Host a dinner party for a group of your friends and ask each person to bring a check for CVI. Consider asking for checks in the amount that they would have spent if they had gone out to dinner that night.
Dine Out for a Cause
Partner with a local restaurant and pre-sell tickets or reservations in exchange for a portion of the event’s proceeds going to support CVI.
Host a wine tasting party! Encourage attendees to bring two bottles of wine — one to serve at the event and one in a brown paper bag. During the party, have attendees “bid” on the secret bottle of wine. Add light hors d’oeuvres, cheese or desserts, and you have a party!
Host a beer tasting party. Encourage attendees to bring two 6-packs of beer — one to serve at the event and one in a brown paper bag. During the party, have attendees “bid” on the secret 6-packs of beer. Add light hors d’oeuvres, cheese or desserts, and you have a party!
Get together a foursome (or buy out the whole course for a golf tournament) and raise funds for CVI.
Consider coordinating a run, cycle, walk or tennis event to raise money for CVI.
Community Yard Sales
Invite friends to go through their closets and get rid of unwanted clothes, household items, toys and jewelry. Each attendee brings the items with price tags to the yard sale, and all proceeds benefit CVI.
Touchdown or Homerun for CVI
At your next football or baseball party, ask each guest to donate $10 at the door and drop their name into hat. At halftime, a name is drawn to receive half of the pot. The remaining half goes to CVI.
Power in Numbers
Think of activities for groups that are already established such as book clubs, alumni clubs, scrapbooking groups, knitting groups, etc. Include a fundraising activity that the group can do together at a regularly scheduled meeting or gathering.
Additional fundraising ideas for your group to consider:
Baby Picture Contest
Corn Hole Tournament
Donations in Lieu of Wedding Gifts
Ice Cream Social
