Low Vision Services

Florence Maxwell Low Vision Clinic

The Low Vision Clinic specializes in helping people ages five and older with some functional vision make the best use of their sight so that they can continue to lead productive and independent lives. Although the clinic's clients have a variety of eye conditions, the most common causes of low vision are macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.

Depending on individual needs and goals, low vision therapists introduce an array of optical and non-optical devices, such as powerful magnifiers, lamps, video magnifiers, low vision watches and check-writing templates. Therapists offer training in the proper use of these devices as needed.

The Florence Maxwell Low Vision Clinic is located at the Center in Midtown Atlanta. CVI also offers periodic low vision clinics in Gainesville, Ga., and Toccoa, Ga. Medicare coverage is available for those who qualify.
